Twilight had just pulled back it's velvety curtain, revealing all the dusky
blue-grey mist that floats around after a nice, sunshine filled day.
"Well, Anne-girl," said Gilbert as he and Anne strolled along a path in valley that was later destined to be called Rainbow Valley. "How do you like your new house by now?"
Anne sighed,"it just isn't the House of Dreams, I know it is alot more convenient, but it will take a while longer before I can really love this place." |
"Jem seems to like it pretty well."
"Oh, Jem loves it, he has gotten lost and in more trouble here in the last couple of days then in the one full year of his life."
"How time does fly!" Gilbert sighed, "it seems only yesterday he was giving his
first squeal."
Talking about loving this place," said Anne as she stooped to bury her nose in a creamy white lily, "Susan is in perfect raptures over the kitchen. She says it's nice not to always dump something when you try to turn around."
Gilbert smiled, "when we moved into the House of Dreams, we thought the kitchen was the perfect size."
Anne gave another sigh, 'it makes me feel so sad whenever I think of
having had to leave that place, we had so many happy times there, Gil."

Gilbert put his arm around her, "we'll have many happy
times here too, I am sure. Lets just forget all of our troubles and enjoy
this lovely night. Look,
doesn't
it look like the moon is smiling down on us? I'm sure that is a happy omen for
our future here." Anne looked up at the moon, "you know, Gil,"she said, home
is really where your loved ones are and I guess that means here. You and Jem
are my most BELOVED ones." |
