• Drop Cookies •

I'm going to have the daintiest things possible...things that will match the spring, you understand...little jelly tarts and lady fingers, and drop cookies frosted with pink and yellow icing, and buttercup cake." Sugar Cookies
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

Icing
- 3 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Dash of salt

Sugar Cookies

1) Cream butter, sugar and vanilla all together.

2) Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.

3) Stir in milk and sifted dry ingredients. Blend well.

4) Divide dough in half and chill for 1 hour or more.

5) Roll dough on floured board to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with a floured cookie cutter.

6) Bake on cookie sheet, in a 375 degree oven, for 8 minutes.

Cool and store cookies in a tightly covered container. Makes 4 dozen cookies.

Icing

1) Combine sugar, milk, vanilla and salt. Mix well.

2) Add food coloring and frost cookies.

3) Add candy sprinkles if desired.

Frosts approximately 5 dozen cookies.
