Leaving Redmond College, Anne undertakes a new job as the principal of Summerside High School. She once again departs her cherished Green Gables and moves into a dainty house called Windy Poplars. Anne realizes shortly after she arrives that she has a major obstacle: the wealthy Pringle family. Hailed as the royal family of Summerside and the owners of practically everything in the town, the clan is hostile towards Anne. With her only allies - the irreplacable widows, Aunt Kate and Aunt Chatty, and their housekeeper, the exceptional Rebecca Dew, Anne must convince the Pringles that she's capable of handling her position at the school, and that she's and willing to stand her ground. As she uncovers the most bizarre secrets of Summerside, Anne's tasks slowly amalgamate.

Quote: "Dearest: Isn't that an address! Did you ever hear anything so delicious? Windy Poplars is the name of my new home and I love it."
